*Shopping
It is not possible to buy a week’s worth of groceries under one roof. For example, I wanted to make a simple chopped salad and had to go to four different places in order to get all of the ingredients…ShopRite for lettuce, garlic & olive oil; Quality Cuts for salami & cheese; Uchumi for bread (for croutons); and Nakasero Market for vegetables. It has been startling to me that sometimes when a supermarket here runs out of something (say white sugar) the shelves stand empty until another shipment comes in. I don’t think I’ve ever seen empty shelves in the supermarket before. The bright side? At least if an item is sold out I can find it somewhere else. And all told, I can find nearly anything here.
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip is on hiatus. NBC is showing new episodes of The Black Donnellys in its place. A full season of Studio 60 was ordered by NBC, but the Cincinnati Post is reporting that the show has been canceled. Alan Sorkin defends his show in another recent article about work behind the scenes on Studio 60.

Super light and moisturizing, it glides on your lips…no stickiness, no tackiness. It also has SPF 12!! Packaged in this cute little pot, this is perfect for those hot days of summer. If you love lip balm like me for everyday wear - snap these up (they are only $14.50 so get two!). Comes in 9 shades…my favorites are Deep Sigh, Tender Baby and Shush.
I will have a more in-depth review of the newest MAC collections later in this week.

*Pace
I once tried to make myself walk at the same lullaby pace that is frequently walked here…I was not capable of doing it. If you’ve ever been in a wedding and been asked to walk s-l-o-w-l-y down the long center aisle you can begin to understand what I’m talking about. Now imagine that the person keeping that pace is your waitress bringing you the cold water you ordered on a sweltering day and you’ll understand why it makes me crazy. That slow walking pace is just one example of the slow lifestyle here. The bright side? Everyone understands if you’re late.
